ITMP Seminar
30 October 2024

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the next ITMP seminar will be held on Wednesday, Oct 30, 18:00 (Moscow time). It will be organised via Zoom.

Speaker: Evan Deddo, University of Michigan

Title: The Giant Graviton Expansion from Bubbling Geometry

Abstract: The superconformal index of half-BPS states in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills admits an expansion in terms of giant gravitons in the bulk description. The expansion can be viewed as the implementation of trace relations for finite N. I will demonstrate how to derive this expansion directly in type IIB supergravity from the class of half-BPS solutions due to Lin, Lunin, and Maldacena. The moduli space of these configurations can be quantized using covariant quantization methods. I will show how this quantization leads to the precise expression for the expansion in terms of giant gravitons. Our proposal provides a derivation of the expansion directly in terms of quantized supergravity degrees of freedom.

If you want to join the seminar please register here before 18:00, October 30 here.
